On September 15th , 2016 at 5 PM the second evening of Fabrica Ciudad takes place. Camila Pinzon en Inge Kok Postma present Ruta de la Experiencia; the first project of the Human Cities Coalition. Rute de la Experiencia is a showcase how to make a street more human by inviting neighbours, local entrepreneurs and local government to participate. It is a tactical urban design process; talk and listen to the local citizens, understand their problems and try to find temporarily and permanent solutions to improve a neighbourhood. URBANOS is has been involved from the start of the Ruta; we researched the local issues with workshops, memory-boxes and a lot of talking/listening and continued with developing a concept that was selected by Habitat III and the municipality to be part of the Habitat Village. At the moment we are looking for contractors and volunteers to construct the intervention.
The Ruta de la Experiencia is part of the Habitat III conference about the future of urbanization and was selected as one of the largest Habitat Village projects. The Ruta is an initiative of the Human Cities Coalition, a collaboration between the Dutch government and private companies and is initiated by Akzo Nobel. The launch of the coalition shouldn’t be a photo exhibition, but a real project to show that the coalition is about doing instead of talking and is a perfect way to make the New Urban Agenda concrete and practical. The other reason was to leave legacy to the city and connect the conference with the local citizens. Our portfolio shows the final result of the project.
About Fabrica Ciudad: the Amsterdam based Pakhuis de Zwijger has opened city embassies worldwide to connect local city makers. The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs invited them to be part of the Ruta de la Experiencia and leave a social legacy to the city.
