What to do if one of the largest employers of your city leaves; in the case of the town Bergen op Zoom the cigarette factory of Philip Morris closed down and nearly 300o people were left directly or indirectly unemployed. This is one of the question in the design studio that we lead for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd years students of the Master of Architecture+Urbanism of the Fontys University of Tilburg. The studio started the 4th of September with a master class by Kai van Hasselt about Design Thinking and future forecasting. Students have to continue with making a vision about the future, translate these ideas into spatial concepts and apply these concepts in the town of Bergen op Zoom.
